The 97th International Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo concluded last night with Arthur Mathern winning the $10,000 Grand Prize drawing. Cade Candies landed the winning Tarpon at 173.3 lbs. Everyone on our boat, Captained by Pat Belanger, brought in a bull red over 30", but new rules demand we release all reds greater than 27". The highlight was watching 11-year-old Maddy (Pat's granddaughter) reel in her big red without help.
Dr. Rob Muller boated the first bull red on Thursday, with the rest of us getting ours on Saturday. The little fella was whupped after working my red for 10 minutes. Yes, that is a back brace I'm wearing as I approach 78. Jason Bergeron ended his reign as President with Attorney General Liz Murrill taking over next year.. Special thanks to the many volunteers who help make the Rodeo a success. Now for some exciting news. Last year, I floated the idea of starting a Podcast & even put out a poll to gauge interest. I decided to hold off despite many of you saying you need to hear my voice during times of hurricane threats.
But my personal life has changed...and so have I. I'm in a different place now, and I'm finally ready to jump into the podcast world with a little help from my sons. Stay tuned... we can't wait to share more soon, just in time for the heart of hurricane season. It seems each day on the internet there are posts about computer models having a storm in the Gulf August 8-12. That's what my podcast will address. Rather than create anxiety in you, I will try to be the voice of reason. You can have Bob Breck in the palm of your hand via your cell phone. Here's an example of the over hype.
