Matthew Racing Towards Central America...

Newly named T.S. Matthew is racing westward at 17 mph and shows no signs of slowing down or turning to the north. NHC has shifted their earlier track slightly to the south and west meaning Matthew will impact land sooner and stay over land longer...bad news for Honduras and Belize and the Yucatan, but good news for us. We finally have a real cold front coming that will drop the Southshore into the 60s for next week with 50s on the Northshore ! That should protect us from whatever is left of Matthew or any new system that might develop south of Cuba. Florida could see an extended period of heavy rains thru the weekend into next week. Stayed tuned !

In the short term, we'll continue to stay summer-like into Saturday with only a few showers around. Some showers should be along the front Saturday night, but VIPIR says all rain will be over before the LSU game Saturday night and for Saint's tailgating on Sunday morning.

Just me, but I'm saving any GW opinions until hurricanes are no longer a threat and our weather gets boring. Focus on the tropics.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.. See you next week Bob on Fox 8. Don't need any bad news about the storm over the weekend, but I will be checking in on it!

Rising sea-surface tempatures are making for bigger longer lasting hurricanes.
