After A Rainy Spell, We're Drying Out...

After the 5th wettest April, May is starting off on a wet note with 2-4"+ rain totals very common on both sides of the Lake.  The overnight and morning storms were accompanied by lots of vivid lightening and loud thunder too.  Fortunately the cold front that triggered all the boomers has settled off our coast and a secondary surge of cooler and drier air is coming.

Those northerly winds will continue for the next 2-3 days resulting in much lower dew points (drier air) with comfy cool nights (50s North Shore) and pleasantly warm afternoons.

There will be some clouds on Thursday as this next surge of cooler air approaches with mostly sunny skies for Friday & Saturday.  Mother's Day will see a return of the heat & humidity so get out and enjoy the next couple of days as it won't feel this nice again until October!

I don't expect any showers here with this next surge so hopefully we'll have 4-5 days to dry out.  Finally, I was watching the baseball game in Chicago tonight and noticed how all the players were bundled up.  Then i saw it was only 48 degrees.  Burrr!  On the other hand, check out the satellite pic from south Florida where it was 90+.

That heat bubbled up some tall T-Storms casting long shadows to the east as the sun sets to the west.  Love to pick out these features on the satellite views.   I ate dinner outside on my back patio tonight and it was delightful.  Suggest you do the same before the real heat & humidity return next week.  Stay tuned!
