For Early May, As Good As It Gets...

The surface weather pattern is often/always connected to the upper air flow.  Our current drying out 7 cooling down is connected to the build up of an upper ridge over the West Coast and a broad trough over the Great Lakes and eastern states.  That keeps cold fronts coming down out of Canada giving us some late season special cooling treats.

On the bottom graphic you can see the first front that brought us storms has pushed into Florida and off the Gulf Coast.  A secondary surge of cool air will re-enforce our current good feel air on Friday and that should last into Saturday.  The third front over Minnesota will not reach us as it's getting late in the season for cold fronts down South.

The upper trough over the East has sweaters and jackets out while the western ridge has brought temps approaching 100 in the desert SW.  The warmth made it up into Idaho with Boise near 90.

Friday into Saturday looks to be mostly sunny with some clouds returning during the day on Sunday.  Dew Points in the 40s & 50s will allow temperatures to get almost chilly over night before bright sunshine quickly warm things up.   As I said yesterday, enjoy this as we won't feel this good until October!  Stay tuned!
