Tuesday's Front Bringing Needed Rain Chances...

We all have seen the low river reports that are causing barges to run aground and shipping traffic to be restricted.   The lack of rainfall covers a huge part of our nation.  This week will see several opportunities for us to get wet as tropical moisture from the remains of Hurricane Joslyn will couple with an approaching cold front followed by another front coming late in the week.

SPC has a slight risk for severe storms over Texas tomorrow and that risk could reach us late on Tuesday.   The cause for all the dryness can be traced to the upper pattern over the Pacific.

The storm track has stayed well to the north towards Alaska keeping the West Coast dry.  A trough is bringing some storms & snows to the northern Rockies, but the big question for us is how much will the remains of Joslyn increase our rain chances?

The mountains of Mexico will wring out any surface moisture, but there is plenty starting to show up over south Texas with dew points 70+.  Best chances for rain here will be late Tuesday PM into early on Wednesday.

My thinking is rain chances should be 60-70% Tuesday PM instead of 30%.  I've been watering my lawn & potted plants, but it's not the same as a good soaker.  I'm going to try fishing again tomorrow with Capt. Hylton so my next post will be on Tuesday.  Stay tuned!

Hi Bob,
I don't want to be nit-picky, but I believe it is Hurricane "Roslyn" - not Joslyn.
