Satellite pictures are showing a well defined low level circulation way down over the SW Gulf. A Hurricane Hunter will investigate this afternoon but it appears TD 13 is forming. Only slow movement is expect and it should be slowly towards the Mexican coast as a strong ridge of high pressure at the surface is protecting us. The problem could come later this week as a weak cold front arrives late Thursday into Friday. This will provide a surface trough(the front) and tropical systems sometimes move towards weaknesses in the atmosphere. For now I'm not concerned, but will keep a close eye on it. I'll have an update this afternoon after we get reports from the plane.
Tropical Storm Karen is only a problem for the fish & ships in the far eastern Atlantic. We need not even pay attention to her as she is forecasted by NHC to turn northward away from any land.
