No Need for Alarm Yet...

Our office phone lit up this afternoon when most computer models placed SE Louisiana in the bulls eye of a possible tropical system that hasn't even formed yet. As I have always said, to speculate on where a tropical storm or hurricane will go BEFORE it even forms is almost irresponsible...but because of the internet, everyone can now see computer models that are only as good as the information that goes in. IF the initial position is wrong, then the final position will probably be wrong too. (GIGO garbage in,garbage out) According to NHC tonight, a tropical WAVE is interacting with an UPPER low over Florida. This system shows NO signs of development tonight. IF it does develop, that development will be slow to occur until the upper low moves farther to the west. Bottom line...Nothing may ever develop & if it does, we'll have plenty of time to react.

In the short term...the next 2 days should stay delightful as we'll be on the dry side of the upper low. I'll have another update Wednesday afternoon. If you have any questions, send them to me and I'll try to answer your concerns. Bob

Hi Bob! I think you are great. It is amazing, first of all that anyone can predict such a thing as the weather! With the tools you have and the experience of being a New Orleanian, I depend on your opinions with the complete understanding that Mother Nature has a will of her own and can not always be predicted. But, I trust you, and I thank you for that!

I am just wondering, if this storm does develop, how much time do you think we will have to prepare? I would like to have a plan secured, just in case, but do not want to jump the gun either... We are pre-mature evacuators because we have 5 children and are more afraid of no electricity than anything else!

Thank you for your continued efforts to give us the best available info with todays technologies!
