Yikes! If you out tonight without a jacket or sweater, it feels some cold !!! Windchills are making it feel like in the lower 40s. Don't forget to take the coats tomorrow because I don't expect much sunshine and that means more chilly temperatures. Remember...cold air means no hurricanes !
Yesterday's rains are long gone, but the 9.35 inches so far at the airport make this the 2nd wettest October on record. Reaching the 13.20" that fell in October of 1985 will be difficult since we have no more fronts coming for the next 5-7 days. Some much needed rain fell across the drought areas of the Southeast today but no rain is in sight to help put out the fires in Southern California.
The National Weather Service came out with their "Winter Outlook" and they say the Gulf South will see above average temperatures and below average rainfall. They base that because we are currently in a moderate "La Nina" where the waters in the Pacific off of South America are cooler than normal. Usually that means fewer storms for the South and fewer Arctic outbreaks. We shall see. I've already pulled out my sweaters and heavy weather gear just in case.

Well, I like the warmer temperatures and drier air, although the desert southeast still needs a lot of rain.
