Going Green...
Unless you've been in a cave, there is a huge push to "educate" America on changing wasteful habits & saving energy. NBC/Universal has been a leader with the TODAY show going to the ends of the Earth to show viewers how the current warming climate is changing the environment. I applaud most of what I have seen...I mean who isn't for cutting pollution, reducing energy consumption & recycling our wastes? What I see as misleading is that somehow man can stop the current warming cycle, that man is causing climate change and that man can stop it. From everything I have read from BOTH sides on global warming, it is a far more complex issue that just reducing your "carbon footprint". One side believes CO2 is the driver warming our Planet while the other feels it is a combination of deforestation & urbanization along with changing energy from the Sun, with increased CO2 being only a minor player. What I don't like is one side pushing the "feeling guilty for being successful" issue. I don't like the "we can tax our way out of this problem." Should the government get involved in the global warming issue? Absolutely yes, but only to the extent of creating INCENTIVES that would encourage Americans to conserve energy, to pollute less. Nothing will be accomplished by more taxes except to hinder/restrict our economy and curtail our growth. What do you think?
