The annual Gulf Coast Hurricane Tour arrived here today with one of the NOAA P3 aircraft and several Hurricane Center forecasters including new Director Bill Read. I met Bill last week in Orlando at the National Hurricane Conference and realized we have known each other for years as he had been at the National Weather Service in Houston for over 15 years. He's no stranger to hurricanes. I believe he'll do well trying to fill the shoes of Max Mayfield.
We are getting to the time of the year when cold fronts become cool fronts and daytime highs begin to soar into the 80s. It appears that will happen by Sunday at the latest. A weak front coming Friday night might bring some showers but our weekend looks to be mostly dry.
Yesterday Denver's high was 81. Tonight they are snowing with the temperature being 32 !
