We never wish bad weather for others, but hasn't it been nice so far this year that all 4 named storms have been someone else's problem? Danny may become a weak hurricane, but with strong SW winds over the Gulf and up the East Coast, this storm will not come to us. NHC indicates an area from Long Island to Cape Cod could see near hurricane conditions late Friday into Saturday so I would not plan my vacation trip to the NE this weekend.
Another strong wave has moved off of Africa and shows some signs of development tonight. The next storm's name is Erika.
In the short term, we could see a few showers return for Thursday & Friday, but coverage should be 30% or less. Another August "cold" front will arrive early on Sunday increasing rain chances late Saturday into early Sunday. Sunday afternoon will see north winds return bringing back drier, "good feel" air for Sun. PM into Monday & Tuesday.
Thanks to all of you who voted me Best Weathercaster in Gambit's "Best of New Orleans" out this week.
