Tonight's satellite loop clearly indicates increasing t-storms around a strong wave that is moving westward well east of the Leeward Islands. Not sure what NHC is waiting on as I have seen them make much smaller systems TD or TS by now. Perhaps they have a quik-scat pass over it tonight that still doesn't show a closed surface circulation? Regardless, it sure looks impressive tonight. As long as we have these east coast troughs over us with fast upper westerly winds over the Gulf, this system should never be our problem.
Locally we have a weak front trying to push down into the Gulf. Some surprise showers have developed just to our north along what is the new frontal boundary this evening. We have some reports of a waterspout out over Lake P near Madisonville early this evening. We could see a shower or two as this front heads thru the southshore later tonight. Tomorrow will bring drier air that should hang around for the rest of this week. We'll pay attention to this front in the Gulf to see if any weak low tries to form along it.

Saying goodbye to August and what seems to be the longest two months...with July and August having 31 days each in them as compared to December and January time frame. The heat must have something to do with it.
August just didn't seem as hot as June or July was. We had those 3 cool fronts in August which just seemed to keep the high temps normal or below normal for rest of the month.
Was this the coolest August we ever had or were there other August months that were cooler in prior years.
Still squeezing in a few more dips in the pool...Water temps are starting to get cooler...Just a few more weeks and the swimming season will be over...
Now if we could just say goodbye to Hurricane Season...
