As Yogi once said..."it ain't over til the Fat Lady sings." Well she isn't singing yet, but she's on stage and approaching the microphone. There are still 9 days left in September, usually a very active time of the Hurricane Season, but this year is different. Strong westerly winds cover most of the areas that produce tropical activity so it's very unlikely we'll see anything perk up soon. Long range computer models start bringing back those east coast troughs next week so hopefully we'll start seeing some real Fall cold fronts during the next 10-14 days. Once beyond Oct. 10th, I'll feel really confident that we're home free for this year. Even if something does form during the next 2 weeks, those west winds should steer anything away from us.
In the short term...a cold front will approach tomorrow and on Wednesday, but it will stall out to our west around Lafayette keeping most of the showers to our west and north. With highs around 90, expect a few daytime heating T-Storms producing heavy rainfall in some neighborhoods.
