Neil Frank told the audience at the National Hurricane Conference last April that NHC is now naming storms that would not have been named while he was NHC director. A classic example is Tropical Storm Grace which was named late Sunday evening and is already gone. Grace was named even though she formed north of 40 degrees and far out over the eastern Atlantic. Even TWC this morning was wondering what was going on. Could it be NHC received some pressure from NOAA to help NOAA reach or get closer to their preseason number predictions ? Nah...that would never happen !!!
Locally, we are locked back in summer-like conditions for most of this week. Until we can get the east coast trough back, the upper SW flow will 1) prevent any cold air and 2) keep us semi-wet. In addition, we will threaten the record highs (lower 90s) for the next 3-4 days. The next REAL front isn't coming until mid next week. Be patient folks. Fall will return.

It's like August outside. Make it stop! :)
How is the September-December temperature outlook for New Orleans/southeast Louisiana?
Could we say the NOAA is Padding the Stats...Nooooooooo...no way Bob...
Yes it definitely feels like summer outside Nicole...it might just temp me to for a late season swim...nah probably not, the pool temperature is getting cooler, but it is warm outside.
Getting to an earlier Blog...My recollection El Nino winters were that consistent SW flow that would not allow any cold air to come into our area. I found winters to be milder and wetter than usual.(I love making it feel like Thanksgiving and Christmas by turning on the A/C) Of course that was during the Global Warming years...Maybe during this cooling period we will see more fronts and if its wetter than usual maybe some snow...
I sure hope we start seeing cool fronts start coming down on a regular basis and getting rid that aggrevating SW flow...
PLAYOFFS, PLAYOFFS, now we have people just saying SUPERBOWL!!!
