Yep, another Gulf Low with more to come as longer range guidance suggests 3-4 more events during the next 10-14 days. Nothing indicates any chance for a White Christmas, however, some very cold air has entered the lower 48 & all it would take is a deeper dip in the east coast trough bringing colder air down over us and then another Gulf low comes along with the moisture. C'mon, who da thought da Saints would be 13-0? Stranger things have happened.
In the short term, a cold rain should overspread us by noon Thursday continuing into early Friday. Most of the showers will be gone before noon Friday with a dry, but cold weekend shaping up. A light freeze on the Northshore Sunday Morning with near freezing South. How much rain we receive on Thurs-Friday will depend on the track of the Gulf Low. Tonight's models keep the heaviest amounts offshore.
Copenhagen has turned into a money grab and has nothing to do with reducing CO2. The religious fanatics have taken over that movement.

I enjoyed the reports of the 140 private jets and 1200 limos at Copenhagen...the GW crowd seems to follow the mantra, "Do as we say, not as we do." Wonder how many carbon offsets they purchased for those?
Yep! You heard it right. More rain is on the way, and it will be here in short order with a large rain shield already impeding on the area. This is due to an intensifying Surface Low in the Western Gulf of Mexico. The Surface Low is expected to stay off our coast this time but is expected to get close enough to drop another 2-4 inches of rain on the New Orleans metropolitan area by tomorrow morning. This should cause some more flooding issues especially in areas south of the city where it’s still flooding from Monday Night’s rainfall event. Additionally, the soil is extremely saturated and can absorb any more water. It’s so saturated that inch of rain would cause flooding problems, this has triggered the issuance of anther Flash Flood Watch for our area. The soil is so saturated because over 21.5 inches of rain fell in our area in the first 14 days of the month and we are on course to breaking the record for the all time wettest month ever in New Orleans! 21.5 inches in 14 days is rainfall of biblical proportions to any Meteorologist and December 2009 won't be forgotten any time soon.
The rain from this latest Gulf Low is progged to be out of the area by noon tomorrow. Behind it will be a strong cold front which will give us a cold but dry weekend. Saturday will start off with lingering clouds but they should clear out by the afternoon hours as High Pressure advects into the area. Highs on Saturday will struggle to get out of the 40's and will plunge into the 30's after Sundown. You will certainly need your coats if you plan on tailgating for the Saints game. The Northshore will likely have a light freeze Saturday Night. Sunday will be slightly warmer than Saturday but it won't be noticeable. For the most part Sunday will be identical.
Temperatures will begin to modify on Monday and Tuesday as the Surface area of High Pressure advects to the east. This will cause winds to shift to the south and allow moisture back into the area. On Wednesday and Christmas Eve another low is forecasted to move through and bring anther round of rain. A strong cold front will be right behind it. The strength of the system will greatly influence on how cold we are Christmas Day. Temperatures look to be below normal at least. If the system is stronger it could be bitterly cold Christmas Day. Maybe even a few flurries if were lucky?

Ok... This Copenhagen Clown show is really starting to bug me. I just saw that Hilary Clinton, the Secretary of State, it proposing that the US will start raising 100 Billion Dollars a year in "Climate Financing" a year for the "poorer countries". Where is this money coming from??? I thought we were broke? What are they doing? Growing a 100 Billion on trees? Or is it just more borrowed money from China which refuses to meet the "Carbon Standards" the US is proposing for other countries to put into effect. Why don't we use that 100 Billion to help solve our own problems? I just don't get these people...
just saw some interesting models for the weekend after Christmas... seems like some moisture will come out of the Gulf AFTER some COLD air is down here... could we have another SNOW EVENT??? hmmmm... of course it's way too early...
This is for you, William...

Onlyreal,
When you call this event at Copenhagen a Clown Show, you are being WAY TOO POLITE. It's more like a 3 ring circus with brain-dead clowns. Between the laughable and side splitting hypocrisy of the carbon belching transportation there, as William pointed out, there are protesters out and around the city, who are protesting the cause those folks are there for. Huh?
They are large, unruly crowds demanding that the process be sped up. These are not folks protesting AGAINST the Copenhagen issues. I wonder why there are none of those folks there?
Although there have been hundreds of arrests being made at these demonstrations, you haven't and won't see it in the mainstream media.
Giving third world countries billions of dollars to say "we are sorry for pollution to your country" has to be the most ridiculous notion in history. And sadly, many countries are on board with it. Who's the genius that had that great idea?
One can only scratch their head.
the bigger picture, much bigger than the global warming lies is what people needs to educate themselves on....
Watch "The voice of Alex Jones" videos on youtube or follow http://www.infowars.com
Ever heard of Eugenics, Bohemian Grove or Bilderberg group? People need to stop watching American Idol and worry about the country ONLYREAL you are very smart and I wish and hope all teenagers are aware like you!
Pompo...
All teenagers that I know and go to school with are all brainwashed by Global Warming. Only my closest friends know its all BS because I have taken time to explain to them why. Its not just the students, its also the teachers that are contributing to this massive scandal. But the sad part is that the young people like me and the teachers are both influenced by the same thing. The media which sways their opinion, and the teachers don't have any meteorological background so they just assume its correct. The whole thing is a big mess.
Onlyreal,
As you progress in school and into college it will only get worse. You will be in a world mostly of radical liberals UNLESS we can get enough young folks like you, to start questioning things that are force fed by these liberal teachers under the condescending guise of "science". Those folks would have you believe that "science" is an "exact science". Most ordinary folks who buy into global warming merely take science at it's word. How dare YOU question science? See, that's the attitude. They don't accept questions or criticism of their findings.
Hopefully, that is changing with advent of the climategate e-mail scandal. The scandal does not prove that ALL scientific findings are wrong, but it DOES prove that science is not infallible.
Many scientific theories by the most famous people in history have been proven wrong.
You will be fighting this condescension in college, where you will encounter eccentric professors who grade with vindictiveness. You may need to hide your beliefs at times, but never compromise your principles. Fight for what you believe and strive for the truth.
