Brighter Weekend Coming...

It's a nasty Friday night, but the bulk of the rain will be gone before midnight with only some lingering showers thru daybreak. Saturday begins cloudy, breezy & very cold but skies will become sunny by midday with afternoon highs sneaking into the low 50s. Sunday morning lows will be near freezing but brilliant sunshine, light winds and warmer PM temperatures will make for a perfect day. Another storm brings back the rain threat late Monday into Tuesday with yet another chance for sleet/snow mix north of Lake P. Too far away to get too excited.

Once again the Times-Pic had a big headline...Scientists...Global Warming, an Inescapable truth". Read the article and and tell me if you find any real facts. Sea levels rising? They've been rising since the Little Ice Age ended. Hottest decade? Problem is we now know the data was fudged. When we do see stories about the cold weather gripping the Planet, somehow it's because of Global Warming. Our current February will end up as either the 2nd or 3rd coldest on record. Have a great weekend...make sure you have your sweaters & jackets!

Bob,

I read that article and here's what I got out it. First off, it is obvious that the AGM folks will not go quietly into the night, even in light of all the recent events like e-mail climategate, resignations at IPCC, and the actual climate itself. In fact, in light of the record snow and cold temps nationwide, they are struggling to keep AGW in the forefront. So, the focus has now become rising sea levels. Their focus, in this article, particularly with the Gulf region is not the best example they could have used. One major fact omitted in this article is the fact that man has changed the flow of the Mississippi river which has had an affect on Louisiana's coastline. This is not the result of global warming.

The other fact neglected with regard to disappearing coastlines and barrier islands, is that hundreds of years of hurricanes, that have nothing to do with global warming, are responsible for the disappearing of coastline and barrier islands.

This report ignores the recent erroneous report regarding sea-rise and disappearance of glaciers in the Himalayas.

As this damning evidence continues to come to light on a daily basis, it only shows how reports and articles like this prove these AGW folks continue to slip more and more into denial.

They will go to any extent to further their agenda.

If part of the debate about global warming is the accuracy of gathered weather data around the world including the united states and NOAA then how could we say any current or past month was the coldest on record if those records have been said to be unreliable?

The problem CAVEMAN, and I'm sure you know this already, is comparing past records to current data is often comparing apples to oranges. The data sites have moved over the years so it's difficult to compare current with the past. In 1970 there were over 6,000 global reporting site. Currently, maybe 1500+ with most of the discontinued site being rural.
