Where's Spring?

Astronomical Spring arrives this Saturday at 12:32 PM and it might feel like it...but Not For Long. Computer models keep bringing back the east coast trough time and time again for the next 10-14 days and that will keep the cold fronts coming. St. Patrick's Day will have more clouds than sun with a slight chance for a stray shower. Highs will struggle to get above the low to mid 60s and a light jacket or sweater will be needed. Thursday starts cool but the warm up begins later in the day. Friday will be sunny and warmer (70+) with Saturday windy & Spring-like (70-75). A strong cold front arrives before dawn on Sunday with some T-Storms followed by much colder air. Highs staying in the 50s with strong north winds.

Looking back on last March 2009, we already had 4 days 80+. So far for 2010, we're ZERO for March with only 4 days above 70. Not exactly (ooops, that's Ch. 6) Burrr, but more like comfy cool.

I keep thinking that winter is over, but every time I do, another front comes through and drops our temps into the 50-60 degree temps. That isn't a bad temp for night time but for highs during the day, it leaves lots to be desired. I guess I'll be sorry I'm stating this come July and August when my electric bill is $300.00! How can one ever save for an evacuation with electric bills like that?! I wasn't expecting that much rain last night either. Looks like it crept up on us and stayed most of the night time hours. Barely stopped before I left for work around 6:45 but looks like a great Saturday in store for us. Sadly, we will be breaking out the fire logs for Sunday though. BOB and ONLY REAL, again, thanks for all the heads up you guys give us weather wise. It sure does make life a lot easier and makes me personally feel a lot safer knowing you two are on top of weather to come in our area. I know Spring time brings lots of tornado outbreaks so I feel much more confident with you two at the helm, looking out for our interests in the Greater New Orleans area. # 1 football team and # 1 weather forecasting, how much better can it get!

Nashette, you are so right, I come here and get my weather from this site. I usually just read the Blog section and Bob and OnlyReal do a get job in forecasting. OnlyReal goes into great detail and he's not only interesting and entertaining to read but educated as well. Onlyreal has earned a my respect in his forecast blogs and I see him gaining that experience that Bob has earned over his career.

In reading Bobs forecast he is polished and I get the sense of his wealth of experience thru his blogs. So his blogs do not necessarily have to be as detailed. Plus we have him to watch on TV and here!!! Also, Its not all just about the weather, but other issues as well.

Weather wise I still can't believe its this cool so deep into March. Like you hinted at Bob no 80's yet...that's unheard of.

Now Nashette...I went outside this morning and my pool turned a whiter shade of green...so I shocked it this morning and may have to get my pool cleaned and started a little sooner than I wanted...I was hoping it would hold during this cool period, but the sun is getting higher in the sky and that may have something to do with it...Sad to report though...if I do get it cleaned its still too cold to swim...check back in mid May...
