We were defeated and depressed after the levee failures during Katrina, but we have clawed back and, with help from the Saint's, people want to come live here once again. This oil leak has knocked us down once again. No it's not just those that make a living from the sea, but what about those who keep on living because of the sea? A lady friend walking her dog tonight told me about her depressed husband. No he hasn't lost his job, nor is he dying from cancer, but the oil spill has taken away a very real part of his life. Some men use golf or tennis as their therapy to relieve the stresses of life. Her husband uses his boat and fishing camp to get away from it all, to get close to nature, to see the beauty of our Creator, to enjoy the outdoors. Now that has been taken away from him and who can say for how long? Weeks? Months? Years? Add in the thousands of others who come from far away to visit not just Louisiana, but all of the coast over to the Florida beaches and you can just feel it. It's a sad, sad, sad Gulf Coast.
Weather-wise...wow, what a weekend! Hope you enjoyed it because the muggies are back. It will feel hotter too as temperatures flirt with 90 all week. Our next rain chance doesn't arrive until Sat-Sunday at the soonest. We'll stay windy for the next 2-3 days which will hamper the oil clean up. Do you have any ideas on how to clean up such a vast area of oil? I'll share a web site tomorrow that has an environmentally friendly way to do it.

Is that pool ready yet?

Thanks for the updates as usual...Without you no one would know how to dress, when to water their lawns and how their weekend vacations may turn out....
What a gorgeous weekend we had. With Saturdays low humidity and cool temps, I got the yard cut in the middle of the day. It was perfect weather for Mother's Day, sadly the first Mother's Day without mom...
Nashette, the pool is clear, still needs a vacuum though, my daughter and her friend went swimming about 10 days ago and the water was still too cool. Hopefully, I'll have time this weekend to vacuum the pool and try to get in and enjoy it.
I love listening to music to relieve my stress and find it soothes me...I can totally understand using our vast waterways to let go for awhile...Like Jimmy Buffet once wrote "Don't try to describe the ocean if you've never seen it...Don't ever forget that you just may wind up being wrong."
I guess we never ever thought an oil spill this huge could happen to us and so close to home.
Nashette,
Its the last 2 weeks of school and this is the time of the year when the teachers like to cram everything. This results in tons of written homework, studying, and tests. This has greatly reduced my spare time when at home and I hate not being able to write my forecasts that y'all love. This really has me in a constant state of guilt so don't think I have forgotten about you guys because I haven't. You will see me around a lot more after May 28th when school ends. I plan on writing a forecast tomorrow morning.
