Bonnie is Born...Headed Towards Gulf?

Late this afternoon NHC upgraded TD 3 to tropical Storm Bonnie. Their current track takes Bonnie into the Gulf after dark on Friday, over the Loop Current (Gulf's warmest waters) on Saturday, making landfall on the Louisiana coast after noon on Sunday somewhere near Morgan City. This would not be a good track for us as we'd be on the stronger side of the storm. However, an upper low is still creating lots of wind shear and that is expected to continue limiting Bonnie's development. She is currently over 1,000+ miles from New Orleans and there is ample time for changes in the track that would minimize the impacts to us. IF she doesn't change course, our crunch time will be late Satuday night into Sunday when heavy rains (3-5") and gusty winds (30-50+) could batter us for many hours. Until Bonnie gets into the Gulf, let's not get any panic attacks and wait for further information from NHC. She could stay far enough to our east or west that impacts here would be minor. Next update tonight at 10 PM

Bob,
What is your gut feeling on T.S. Bonnie?

Bob, I have 5 kids, and although I know the storm intensity is important, I am more worried about trees on my house, no power, no water and tornadoes. Being on the Northshore, what do you think we can expect as far as all that goes? I understand we will know more tomorrow... so no rush, just would like to know what you think about severe weather in the area huricanne or not!
Thanks!
