I know it's too soon to totally celebrate, but just seeing the oil flow stopped today had to make everyone feel better. There may be lots of oil left to clean up, however, I'm reminded of the cleansing power of Mother Nature. Back in the late 60s or early 70s, a river that flowed thru Cleveland into Lake Erie caught fire (no foolin') due to so many chemicals poured into it. Lake Erie was declared dead. But then, laws were passed, pollution stopped and the river and the Lake slowly recovered. I expect our Gulf to do the same, but it will take time. How long? My gut tells me it'll be more like months and not years as we are located in a much warmer climate. Hey, I might be fishing again in a couple of weeks...that would be nice!
Weatherwise, deep tropical moisture is returning and expect our daily spotty T-Storms on & off thru the weekend. That should mean highs in the low 90s instead of the mid to upper 90s. Tropics still quiet except way out in the Atlantic where NHC is giving a swirl of clouds a low chance to develop. Keep the umbrella handy & enjoy your weekend.

It is 8:00 and here in Metairie it is pitch black. Looks more like midnight. I hope the rain holds out this weekend as I was planning on working on my tan for at least an hour each day. I'm so glad the tropics are quiet. Only 6 more weeks till I cruise. Hopefully it will be an uneventful hurricane season and the gulf can continue to be cleaned.
