Tropics Taking a Snooze?

Looking at satellite loops tonight finds the lack of activity encouraging. Water Vapor shows lots of dry air & African dust covering the tropical Atlantic. We may see the next 7-10 days very quiet because of that. There is another upper low in the Gulf just to our south that will bring more overnight showers and keep rain chances high again on Tuesday. By Wednesday an upper ridge will build across us and dry us out and heat us up. I'd rather deal with the heat instead of some tropical disturbance.

Bob, I'm with you, I'd rather deal with heat than tropical systems. Only 5 more weeks till I cruise to Cozumel.. Keeping fingers crossed that tropics will remain quiet.

ONLY REAL: What's this about no summer in 2011? Explain.....

I read on wunderground that most think that as the MJO becomes more favorable to Atlantic development we will see a hurricane "pain train" from Aug-Oct. It also said that the Euro model is predicting that a high pressure ridge will build in and protect much of the East Coast which will flush tropical storms into the Gulf.
