Remembering Mama...

If you have been wondering "where's Bob?"...I have been visiting my family for the wedding of my God child plus spending 4 days with my Mom celebrating her 86th Birthday. 950 miles separate her from me and sometimes just having coffee is special. Don't forget your Momma (or Dad) if you live in the same area. Family is important.

I'm back in town but won't be on-air until Tuesday. There is an area of low pressure east of Florida that NHC gives a low chance to develop. If the system stays weak, it'll be steered around the Atlantic Ridge and towards an old front along the east coast. IF it started to develop and get stronger, then the big upper high that has been causing all the extreme heat would steer it farther to the west. Could it be a problem for us in several days? Sure as NHC gives it a low chance to develop. Models? C'mon, we've talked about this before. No center yet means no initialization point. Believe them if you want. See you tomorrow. If something develops, I'll update the blog later tonight.

Would you rather the NHC not say or mention anything about their thoughts on areas or low pressure?

I feel if everyone is prepared in advance, which we all should be, NHC doesn't have to mention every single little area of disturbed weather until it warrants mentioning. Just panics people in advance of what could become nothing at all. Looks like we will get some rain out of the system moving into the gulf. and...hopefully it will just be some rain, and not anything to WORRY about...

GFDL model run this evening is interesting. Calls for a Cat 1/2 Grand Isle landfall sometime Thurs night into Friday morning. This model is currently the only one calling for such strengthening, so lets hope it doesn't pan out.

Caveman...I love to hear your OPINIONS/PREDICTIONS. Not sure if you're trying to be a preacher or what? If you have been in the business as long as me, you would remember(before internet/freedom of info) the NHC's discussion always said "Not for public dissemilation" Sometimes I do feel that policy should still be in effect, but there is no going back. Gotta live with it.
