Today's satellite loops sure indicate something is trying to get better organized down over the SW Gulf. NHC says there is a good chance this will become our next tropical depression and possibly our next named storm (Hermine). The good news for us is movement should take whatever forms inland along the upper coast of Mexico or the lower Texas coast. Meanwhile, the remains of Gaston are still alive out in the Atlantic. Strong easterly wind shear coupled with dry air has prevented Gaston from reforming. Reliable computer models do not redevelop Gaston, however, they do develop the next wave coming off of Africa. Sept. 10th is the peak of the Hurricane Season. The sooner October arrives with cooler air the better.
In the short term, the muggies are slowly returning(saw some lower puffy clouds this PM) which will result in higher night time lows and the chance for some daytime heating showers typical of summertime. Too soon to put away the shorts and tank tops for the sweaters and jackets. Need another 3-4 weeks.
