NHC skipped the Depression stage and named Tropical Storm Paula late this afternoon. Satellite loops tonight show the system getting better organized over the warm waters of the western Caribbean and she should be a hurricane on Tuesday. Motion carries Paula close to Cozumel as a Cat. 2 Hurricane on Wednesday before turning to the east and stalling later in the week. We remain protected by fast westerly winds over the Gulf plus several fronts are coming bringing back cooler air. In addition to the modest cool down, we could wring out a little much needed rainfall ahead of the first front on Tuesday. A stronger surge of cool air arrives on Thursday.
Down da road, even colder air is on tap for next week.
