Fairbanks is 36 below zero tonight and, typically, it takes 7-10 days for that chill to work its way down to us. Hummm...10 days from now is...Dec. 25th! Could it be cold enough...could we have enough Gulf moisture around to...Snow? Hey, I just played Santa Claus in the downtown Christmas parade and seeing the look of hope in the eyes of children make me believe anything is possible. Stay tuned !
In the short term, Thursday we'll be in the warm air sector with strong SW winds kicking highs into the 70s. Our next front arrives before daybreak on Friday with a few showers, but the real chill blows in Friday night and on Saturday. Highs Friday mid 60s early, low 50s on Saturday and 50-55 on Sunday. Another rapid warm up begins Monday with highs in the 60s and 70+ on Tuesday before a series of cold fronts will bring the "Christmas feel" back for the rest of next week.

You teasing us with the "s" word ??? Hahaha do u see some evidence in the extended models? That would be nice to see some white stuff... Not a lot... We had 7" Dec 08 and lost power for several days....
Yeah, we are not really prepared for a serious winter storm. A little snow isn't bad, but the ice is what worries me. As far as I'm concerned, that cold air can stay up in Alaska all winter, lol
I'm so excited about the cold air for Christmas! Snow would be fantastic, but I'll be happy just to be able to light up the fireplace Christmas morning! Thanks for the great weather updates Bob! You're the best!!!
