Hype Time For Us? Why not !
As the cold air surges in and another upper disturbance heads our way from the SW, computer models are definitely trending towards a "wintry mix" across much of Louisiana for Thursday and Friday. Our VIPIR run tonight has sleet beginning before daybreak across the Northshore. Depending where the track of this next Gulf low goes will determine who gets in of the "Wintry Mix". It could get nasty here Thursday night into Friday. Then again, it could only be a very cold rain. Stay tuned ! Regardless, the next 7-10 days look very, very cold.

...and the 0z NAM is STILL showing quite a bit of sleet and Freezing rain across the northshore for Thurs/Fri... Bob, do you think the upper Low could come close enough to cause some flakes by Fri Night??

My concern is that -- although the South shore might not be cold enough to support frozen precip or any form (at least sticking) -- it could still be real wet and close enough to freeze overpasses and bridges. Anybody have any thoughts on that?
Bob... Since we would normally have to wait till 5:00 news to here from you...I'm sure all the snow lovers would like you to do a little more hyping earlier. Can you update your blog sometime Midday?
Here in Mandeville at about 10:50, we had some very, very light snow. You could barely see it, just little white pellets flying through the air. It lasted only about 5 minutes, but we definately had frozen precip.
around noon today in Hammond we had snow grains as well... even a few flakes floated down, too! a sign of what's coming tonight?

Bob I'm here at 541 Royal St. and it's 3:00 pm and there is sleet falling. I hope the "wintry mix" becomes more "wintry" as the night approaches!-Billy Tickle
3:50 in metry, clearview at w. esplanade, light rain/sleet falling.
In Metairie and Kenner there was sleet and some rain drops (mostly sleet) around 2:40-3:05
