Weather Patterns often repeat...

After being in this business for 40+ years, I have seen time and time again certain weather patterns that repeat themselves. People who lived in the Chicago area back in 1967 remember the great snow in January where 20-25" fell in one day. What many don't remember is just a week later another snowstorm dumped 10-12" of additional snowfall making for nearly 3 feet on the ground. Which brings me to this past March where we have seen 2 severe weather outbreaks within 3 weeks of each other. It appears yet a third outbreak of storms may be possible next week as a strong upper disturbance heads our way. Weather patterns can persist for several weeks, sometimes months creating usual weather that gets folks saying things like..."I've lived here all my life and never seen this before." That might be true, but just remember one's lifetime is just a small paragraph or sentence in the giant book of weather history. These things have happened before and will happen again. Kind of like Pensacola going without a direct hit from a hurricane for 69 years and then having 2 strikes (Erin & Opal) in the same summer(1995). What does this mean? Just to pay attention to this next system until the pattern shifts farther to our north. In the short term, after a comfy cool night, a big warm up is coming for this weekend into early next week. Highs will be back to near 80 for Fri-Sat. with temps approaching record highs for Monday & Tuesday before our next cold front arrives Tues. night into Wednesday. Enjoy your weekend, but pay attention to this next system coming for next Tuesday.
