If I hear anyone say..."reliable computer model", I'll scream !!! I have never seen such a flip-flop of models in a single day. Last night Nate into Mexico...this morning Nate northward to the Gulf Coast...tonight Nate back into Mexico. That's 360 degrees in one day ! So how can you believe the "consensus" of the models tonight? I still have concern that a deepening trough over the weekend could pick Nate up and bring him northward late Saturday or Sunday. Until Nate makes landfall in Mexico, my guard is still up. Stay tuned!
In the short term, our great Fall feel will hang around another 1-2 days before the muggies return along with a few showers late Sunday. We're not done with the summer heat as we'll be near 90+ next week.

I am a New Orleans transplant to Austin for 3 months, and I know no other blog, nor any other Bob Breck, to check for hurricane/tropical storm accuracy.
Let's send this one to central Texas. There is a drought here, and the air is so dry. I can handle the sore throat and dry skin, but I can't handle the fires! I miss New Orleans so much, God bless y'all, send some of the wet here!
I don't put a lot of faith in the models until after the Hurricane Hunters have flown into the storm to take accurate measurements, then that data is fed into the models. I think after a few runs with that data, they become more accurate. Their first flight will be tonight, and the data will make it into the 8 pm models runs that will be available first thing Friday morning. Of course I'm not a trained meteorologist, so it's just an opinion.
John,
I do pray that you guys in Texas get some rain and very very soon. It is tragic to see so many homes lost to fires. And you are right, there is just no place like New Orleans. Bob, I am with you. I still have a sinking feeling that sometime late this weekend into next week this Nate will start to pull northward and we could see a hurricane here before it actually makes landfall somewhere along the northeastern gulf coast.
Dr.masters said nate is to far south to be picked up into louisiana.
Do you agree Bob??
So Bob, the swirl seen on the water vapor centered over Nebraska: Is that the thing that was supposed to pickup Nate according to the models yesterday? Cause it looks to my naked eye that it's sinking further south... but I guess on the other hand Nate is sinking further to the south, too... I'm assuming the chances for Nate in LA are extremely low at this time... :)
