Last night I gave my Endymion Parade Forecast for Saturday night fully aware that 5 days away could see many changes. Timing is Everything as it is every Mardi Gras. Last night it appeared the upper trough that would bring us some showers would be east of N.O. by early Saturday morning. Today's model runs slow down the trough keeping the rain in for most of Saturday. Am I ready to flip-flop? Nope. Still 4 days out, models are likely to change several more times before then. My fear? We have yet to see a deep Gulf Storm this Winter season. There are 3 distinct upper swirls out west rotating around an upper trough. One of these days we're going to see these swirls phase with the trough deepening it creating a powerful storm south of us in the Gulf. That would place us in the cold rain shield with strong NE winds with temps in the 40s. Yikes! Way too soon to tell if that will happen this weekend. Stay tuned!
In the short term, another weak cold front will approach during Wednesday PM bringing some showers ahead of it. Tonight's models show most of the showers atying to our north and west for parade time with the real rain threat happening after midnight thru daybreak Thursday. Thursday night's parades look dry.
