Both weekends of Jazz Fest were mostly dry. Not this Mother's Day weekend coming up. A strong upper disturbance is triggering much needed rainfall over much of Texas and that system is heading our way. Models are indicating 2-4" of rainfall possible through out all of SE. LA/MS Friday night into late Saturday. Some of the storms could be heavy so keep up on the weather for the next 24-48 hours. SPC does NOT have us in any severe weather risk area, but that could change. With the transition to El Nino well underway, there has been a definite shift to a wetter pattern across Texas & the Gulf South compared to last summer.
The GFS continues to show a tropical system developing in the Western Caribbean in the 8-12 day time frame moving northward into the EASTERN GULF! That's a westward shift from last night. Interesting. Stay tuned!
