The
eye of Hurricane Isaac made landfall over extreme southern Plaquemines shortly
before 7 PM, however, he has only staggered slowly westward the past 4 hours and
radar loops even show a slight SW motion that keeps the center over the warm
Gulf waters. That’s discouraging for those of us who are tired & frustrated
being without power. I’m hoping a more NW motion resumes later tonight to get
the center inland allowing the weakening process to begin. Until then, 40-60
mph winds with gusts 80+ will batter the Southshore. Winds on the Northshore
are in the 25-40 range with gust to 50+. If that NW motion resumes, Isaac
should slowly take his winds and rain and high water levels away from us, but
improvement probably won’t begin until after noon on Wednesday. I’m going to
sleep and will be back with you on FOX 8 at 6 AM. Stay
tuned.
