I am approaching 43 years in broadcasting this coming February. My early mentors in Chicago were Harry Volkman & John Coleman, founder of The Weather Channel. Those men, along with Roy Leep in Tampa, were responsible for making me the meteorologist I am today. Another early mentor was Pete Leavitt, founder of WSI(1979), the computer graphics company that so many television stations rely on for data & maps. Pete was more than a visionary. He was brilliant in the field of meteorology, delightful as a pianist & entertainer and a true friend. I feel truly blessed to have known Pete Leavitt.
One of my favorite groups (Chicago) had a hit many years back that said..."everybody needs a little time away..."and so this past week I've been away with my 3 sons visiting Las Vegas, the Hoover Dam & the Grand Canyon. What a wonderful time we had. My wife & I went to a Circus de Soile (sp?) show at the Bellagio...what a blast! It was" a little time away" that I needed with family & friends. I'll be back on-air Monday at 4 PM. Go Saints! March on!
