Several weeks ago (actually late August!) I felt that we might see an early Fall with “significant” cold fronts coming by mid September into October. Oh how wrong I was! We are now into mid October waiting for our first “sweater weather” cold front. That appears not likely to happen until sometime NEXT week as the front coming late Wednesday into Thursday will be a “dirty” front that will get hung up along the northern Gulf Coast. Several waves of low pressure are likely to bring us a couple of rainy spells as the upper SW flow will prevent us from really clearing out for many days. We’ll have to watch out for tropical moisture from a Pacific system combining with Gulf moisture that could produce heavy rains here by late Friday. We could see a “hybrid” (more winter-like) type low develop over the western Gulf spreading wind and rain our way for late Friday into Saturday. Stay tuned!
In the short term, Tuesday should be another summer-like day with highs in the mid 80s with slim to none rain chances.
