We Love Da South...

As we reach mid-March, the higher sun angle usually tempers the cold outbreaks coming out of Canada.  However, this Winter appears to be far different than any since the late 1970s.  From looking at the longer range computer models, the east coast troughs are likely to keep appearing rotating around the "Polar Vortex".   What does that mean?   For the Great lakes & Northeast, it means Winter like chill will hang around well into April & early May.   For us, it should mean a mainly dry & pleasant pattern with fewer Spring Severe Storms.  Cold fronts become "cool" fronts as we get into April and by May, they become "less Hot" fronts!  We are still Zero for March regarding 80 degree days (was 80 back on Feb. 20th).   Our earliest 90 degree day (at Audubon Park) is March 23rd...way too soon to start thinking about 90s.  We'll have enough of those in June thru early September.   Let's just enjoy Spring time in the Deep South!
