After a terrific stretch of mid January weather, a pattern shift is coming that will bring back the heavy weather gear. Wednesday will be our last “warm” day for awhile with highs 65-70. Thursday and Friday will be in the 40s & 50s with a cold rain developing late Thursday lingering into early Friday. Rain totals could be 1-2” depending on the strength of an upper disturbance that will race to our east by late Friday. We should see a sunny, comfy cool weekend before more cold air arrives on Monday. Right now it appears the core of that cold will stay to our north and east…however…a slight shift farther to the west in the east coast trough could make us colder. Anyone traveling to the east coast north of Atlanta should be aware of the potential for a heavy snowstorm in the Saturday-Monday timeframe. Stay tuned!

Hey Bob, we're headed to Gatlinburg during mardi gras break. You see anything that far out that hints at colder/snowier than normal weather for the smokies in mid-Feb?
