Waiting for The Blizzard of '15.

As I look at the long range computer models, there are no signs of any major storms coming this week.  However,  anytime bitterly cold air sets up across the lower 48, I look for a northern  stream disturbance that might “phase” with a southern stream system (like in 1978 or, ’93) to produce the so called “Blizzard of the year”.  With The Weather Channel promoting the big warm up (January Thaw) this week,  I’d be looking out for some wild weather developing in the 7-10 day period.   Again, there is nothing indicating that tonight, just my feeling that it’s the time of the year for a big snowstorm.  Stay tuned!

In the short term, this week looks to be rather cloudy and chilly, but not frigid.   Computer models are having a difficult time with the southern stream energy, but it doesn’t look like we’ll see any major rainfall or freezing weather this week.
