Weather Runs in CYCLES

As many of you know, I’m a big believer that weather goes in CYCLES or patterns that repeat.   Our current cycle has been bringing in showers during the week with the weekends being sunny, dry & warm.   If that lasts another 10 days to 2 weeks, it could mean most Big parades for Mardi Gras will be OK.   We have a wet system coming for Wednesday, but then we’ll get into a dry spell that will last into next week.   Thursday looks very chilly with freezing temps. North Shore and near freezing away from Lake P. on the South Shore on Friday Morning.  With bright sunshine, Friday afternoon should warm to near 60, mid to upper 60s on Saturday and 70+ for Sunday & Monday…but we have to endure Wednesday & Thursday first!   While we will party outside this weekend, the Great lakes to New England will stay in the deep freeze with more snow expected.  The older folks up north will start to compare this winter to the coldest years of the 30s, 40s, 50s & 60s before Global Warming.   My only concern is the expanding snow cover over the plains & the growing ice on the Great Lakes will keep the cold train rolling waiting for a big dip in the jet stream to bring the Arctic chill down to us.  No signs of that yet, but we still are not out of the hard freeze time of the year.  Once into March the higher sun angle makes it unlikely to have more than light freezes.   Stay tuned!
