Some of you received sweaters, maybe jackets or heavier coats as Christmas presents. Alas, even this warm weather freak will agree it’s way too warm for Christmas week. Don’t get me wrong, I still don’t like the brutal cold, but to flirt with record warmth day after day is a little much. Some cooling relief is coming late Thursday into Friday but it won’t be brutal & it will be brief. We’re talking just getting back to our “normals” (60s & 40s) would be nice. Looking into the New Year, I still don’t see a major dip in the Jet Stream (Polar Vortex) setting up over the Great lakes & eastern states so that should mean no freezes are likely for the next 10-14 days. This soupy air allows daily foggy starts but our next front on Thursday should sweep in some drier air eliminating the fog problems for several days. As has been the case for many New Year’s Eve celebrations, another system will bring back the warm, moist air and fog just in time for the Fireworks on Saturday night. Bummer. My son in Montana tells me he has plenty of snow & cold so if any of you are desperate, head to Missoula to pass a good time. I prefer to “endure” our Winter warmth either golfing or fishing on Wednesday. Stay tuned!

Hey Bob! Precip type for south LA looks interesting for next Thursday as per the GFS 12z and 18z today.... and the Euro is also hinting at the big Highs over Alaska and Greenland - the big Omega Pattern setting up?? lots of cold coming down?? I would love to hear your take on it... I know the models will probably flip flop all over the place before then, but I'd love to hear what your "gut" says... thanks :) will you be on air if a Deep South Winter Storm hits next Thursday??
