Different Day...Same Story

Yesterday I showed you a pattern that has an upper trough along the west coast with a ridge over the Southeast that keeps the cold air to our north and lots of rain along a frontal boundary running east to west.

It's still very Winter-like over the northern states and out west while we're dealing with Springtime warmth.

You can see the brighter clouds from Dallas eastward with plenty of rain falling from Oklahoma into Tennessee.  Some snow could blanket the ground across Kansas into Missouri & Illinois on Saturday.  Today's high of 83 was just short of the record of 85.  We'll flirt with record heat for at least another 5-7 days.
Some really chilly air (20-25 below) lingers up in Canada and I still think some of that cold will reach the SE later this month.   Hopefully it won't bring any freezes since most plants are now blooming.  I'm sure many of you have started with your tomato plants as I decided those were too much trouble and it's easier to just go to the local super markets.  However, I did that this evening and boy was that a mistake.  People are still in full panic mode over the coronavirus and the cashier even said..." it wasn't this bad when Katrina was coming!"    Thank goodness I'm not short on toilet paper!  Again, take a deep breath as this will pass.    Stay tuned!
