Finally Several Named Storms...

Yesterday I mentioned how unusual it was to be in August and not to have any named Tropical Storms/Hurricanes anywhere on the Planet.  It was only a matter of time before the "dam burst" and we'd see a ramp up in tropical activity.

Today we have 2 named storms with one being just off the Mexican coast.called Elida.  There is a bright cluster of storms along the SW Gulf, but it appears any rotation with that is over land.  There are no strong waves coming off of Africa , but I see 3 swirls out in the Atlantic.

NHC has increased the chances for development of the eastern most system from 10% to 50%.  None of the computer models bring whatever forms to the United States.  In fact, models still keep the next 10-14 days quiet, but that could change overnight,

Locally, the surface map hasn't changed much.  The South remains hot & sticky while, if you want to be cooler amd drier, head out West.   T-Storms have bubbled up again this afternoon bringing some relief from our heat.

Frankly, we can handle our daily storms.  Like most of you, I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop after hearing those gloomy hurricane predictions.  Wouldn't it be nice (Beach Boys) if we could wake up and the Hurricane Season be through(over).  Stay tuned!

Bob, I so appreciate your daily blog posts. Suggestion- when putting your arrows on the NHC maps could you use red instead of yellow?? The yellow does not show up too well. Be safe, Lila
