Oh sure, just after I post, NHC issues an update making it Hurricane Marco with maximum winds of 75 mph near the center. Satellite views show a nice circular core.
Nothing else has changed. Will post again after 4 PM. Stay tuned!

SO you were wrong and Marco has become a hurricane... and also wrong that Marco was going to be a Texas problem and not ours. You sure like to put down other stations and the NHC but you yourself make many mistakes and bad forecasts. Your style is simply give every possible scenario for each storm and then try and claim fame when one actually occurs. Toot Toot
Then why are you here reading his blog. Bob saved a lot of our lives for Katrina. A lot of ppl didn't leave, but a lot credit Bob for them making the decision to leave. He called it and saved lives. So what if he isn't on point with some things..... whoopty woo, poor you huh?
Yeah Bob does like to mention other forecasters and their lack of "experience" quite a bit. Also notice he waits until hours before landfall to give his forecast! LOL
Unknown - The NHC did an excellent job in putting out the warning in a timely for Katrina, manner; it was Bob Breck that erred by being the last holdout for the hurricane to continue to head west. Bob Breck knew the hurricane was Louisiana/Mississippi/Alabama bound; but he was letting fear get to him, when he should have been firm, sounding the alarms to evacuate, which may have discouraged some from evacuating when he did not do so. As I said, his mistake is deserving of great criticism; many people depend upon their local meteorologists, and do not frequent message boards like this, leaving them with one source of weather info that they put trust in. He relied on his VIPIR radar initially taking Katrina to Tampa! Then flipped and flopped like a fish out of water afterwards.
Bob saved me and my family from Katrina. When he got serious that Saturday night before Katrina hit, I told my wife WE need to leave. Bob stop joking and is not smiling. I would have been in 15 FEET of water in Chalmette trapped in a half gone roof. Thank you Bob.
You gotta be a real special person to think weather forecasting should be an exact science, Anonymous. EVERY weather forecaster makes "many mistakes" because we're basically dealing with a force of pure random chaos. Get outta here.
Bob Breck is the best since Nash....he dud tell us to leave for katrina.....some of yaull comments r flat out wrong n ignorant...Bob is n was never afraid to give his opinion....the weather people today do nothing but repeat WhT the nhc says
Bob pay no attention to the bonehead that posted on this blog. Please keep doing EXACTLY what youre doing- we love your blogs and rely on them strongly!
He did not call it for Katrina. He confidently said more than once that she was going to be a Florida storm and not even enter the Gulf. After his forecast on Thursday, where he confidently repeated his claim, Nancy Parker said "We dodged a bullet." Lots of people latched on that and STAYED. We followed Hurricane tracker forums who couldn't believe he was making such definite comments. Meteorologists should NEVER call any storm prematurely because things change. We left on Friday night well before he started eating his words. You can still Google those old threads to see what was really happening back then.
I come here to troll. And I am also fascinated by people's distorted memory of events.
You trust who you want to trust and leave the rest of us alone. You actually think Bob Breck gives a rats rump what you think of him? He's always my go to guy when a storm is threatening us. YOU don't HAVE to be here. Go pick a fight someplace else.
Yup. He got serious Saturday night. Way later than he should have. He called that as a a Florida storm on Thursday.Lots of people stayed because of him. When he changed his tune on Saturday, people were scrambling to leave and stuck in crazy traffic. Hurticane forums were screaming that this was going straight to New Orleans for DAYS while he played it down. They were scratching their head at his playing it down for as long as he did. Precious time wasted.
It always amazes me how some individuals are always LOOKING for ways to belittle others. They don’t like him bc he tells the truth about “global warming “....oh, wait, no...I forget- they had to change that to “climate change”, didn’t they? We love and appreciate you Bob, that’s all that matters!
Hi Bob. I love your updates. These are great explanations of your analysis. Keep up the good work. I was so impressed when they upgraded the forecast winds on Laura to Cat. 2 speed, since you had been saying that! Its always good to have your input. Keep it up.
Same. We always come to Bob’s blog. We always will. Unfiltered commentary re: impending storms is so comforting. Thanks, Bob! We appreciate you so much.
The people who are complaining here are basically the same folks who leave a one-star review on Yelp because the waitress didn't fill their water enough. This is free commentary from a respected, *retired* member of the community, about a topic that is notoriously prone to randomness and sudden changes. If you don't like Bob's commentary, you can always demand your zero dollars back...
"Nearing September 2014 and what I find amazing about the current weather is that there are ZERO Hurricane or Topical Storms ANY WHERE! We are in the heart/peak of hurricane activity and we have nothing, nada. But do you recall all of the predictions from the AGW Alarmists? "We'll see more frequent & more intense Hurricanes". Not happening." -- Bob in 2014
Please tell me you don't still feel that way, 'cause that comment has NOT aged well.
Exactly hard to forecast which is exactly why Bob who routinely misses the forecast should stop putting down other forecasters. He is far from being then Hurricane master.
If you don't know when to evacuate for a storm then you are living in the wrong area of the country. It only takes common sense to know whether to leave or stay. If you can't figure that out on your own then you are a dumb a$$.
Katrina is in the past. PEOPLE NEED TO GET OVER THIS CRAP! I Hate the news and only cone to this blog for weather down home. I'm here in Texas but close to the la. border. I am from lower Plaquemines Parish. We are the 1st parish to evacuate for EVERY storm. So if yall do not like Bob, get off his blog! He is only human.
I don’t understand...if you don’t care for Bob and his weather predictions...why, are you here? I follow him because I like and trust him! But, why do you follow him?
Hey anonymous.... shut up. You bore me with your immature attitude. If you don't like what he writes..don't read it. That simple. Thank you Bob for making me feel safe.
I am a local...born and bred. All living generations from both sides of my family trust bob’s forecasts (especially when it comes to hurricanes over other meteorologists and definitely over NHC forecasts. For starters, he has earned that trust through decades of accurate storm forecasts. He is cautious, while still having people’s safety as a primary concern. This ensures people do not needlessly panic or evacuate unnecessarily (which is especially important now considering the current financial climate and the expense associated with evacuating,) but always gives us enough time to get out if need be. And when bob says it’s time to go, people actually listen...that probably has something to do with him not calling things too early. With most hurricanes, NO ONE can be certain or even fairly sure until you see what happens when they enter the gulf. Also, he always tells people when a storm is moving particularly unpredictably and why. In these cases, he explains that a storm is likely to change course or shift Unexpectedly and relays his ‘best’ current forecast, while explaining that he is reserving from providing a more definitive path until that path can be more accurately ascertained. Statistically speaking, he is much more accurate than the NHC. And by the way, I waited to leave until he said to for Katarina, and I got out safely just fine. I am pretty sure he told us to go before a mandatory evacuation was even ordered.
Bob Breck is like Nash Roberts, we have faith in him and know he will tell us when it's time to panic and run, or wait and see what happens, he has not served us wrong and we have all the faith in the world in him. I read his BLOGS and pass them on every hurricane season, so far, he's right on!!
I am not a texan. I from the lower Plaquemines Parish. I'm in Texas for work only and going back home after this storm. I lost everything in katrina. My whole community was wiped out! So yes i have the fucking right to tell yall to get over the past! Fyi, I like bob. I've been watching bob break since I was a kid!

Girl get off the blog with your negativity. Something, we don't need.
Yeah Bob does like to mention other forecasters and their lack of "experience" quite a bit. Also notice he waits until hours before landfall to give his forecast! LOL
Oh boy here come the squirrels
And you are on Bob's Blog, why?? Nothing better to do apparently

You do know he is retired. He does not have to post anything. He is going by what the NHC is giving us. They also had it going to Texas as well.
Bob wondering your opinion in RPM model on Fox 8 showing a track east of mouth of river then shifting west?

It's not an exact science. But it's not "pure random chaos." They're called weather "patterns" and "steering conditions" for a reason.

YES!!!!!!! Finally someone who remembers what REALLY happened!!
Didn't y'all parents teach you to keep your mouth SHUT if you don't have anything nice to say??
We are all stressed out, COVID-19, unemployment, then the possibility of TWO tropical systems(hurricanes).
I am thankful for Bob Brecks interpretation & opinions/insights.
If your not a fan of his, don't look at his blog. Just go on with your business & watch whoever you prefer & do your thing!!
And shut your pie hole.
You have fo remember that many of these people aren't NO natives. They weren't even here for Katrina. They came afterwards to gentrify.
Bob you keep up the good work!!!! We all depend on you in times like this...
I second that. Bob saved my *ss from Katrina also.
It always amazes me how some individuals are always LOOKING for ways to belittle others. They don’t like him bc he tells the truth about “global warming “....oh, wait, no...I forget- they had to change that to “climate change”, didn’t they?
We love and appreciate you Bob, that’s all that matters!
Oh wow!! Well get off his page then. He doesn't have to post anything. I myself prefer going to his page.
Can the world just be nice! Must be a snoflake on awesome bob's weather page!!! #what happened to respect?

Love you since the 70s Bob. Because of your posts We were prepared for these storms well before the NHC suggested to get prepared. Thank you!

That is an insult to actual squirrels.;-)
Hi "toot toot,"
Grab a margarita and leave Bob alone. Or grab a hurricane if that doesn't work...
Exactly hard to forecast which is exactly why Bob who routinely misses the forecast should stop putting down other forecasters. He is far from being then Hurricane master.
Hahaha! I love bob!

Well you're sure stupid for taking time to follow his blog posts if that's how you feel.
ZIP IT "shay", and enjoy Texas. Why are you here? Dont you have a local weatherman to take advice from?
If you can't something nice about someone, then don't say anything at all. Bob Breck is the B-E-S-T of all the REST!
I will always listen to Bob....& after Bob... Fox 8 Weather Team...
Weather men can predict only GOD knows for sure.
Thsnk you so much for keeping us informed......Please don't ever stop......GOD BLESS

If memory serves correctly Katrina did pass through Florida and ended up in the gulf over the warm waters which intensified her.

Thank you Bob!!! you have no idea how many of us are listening and trust what you tell us.
Shay, if we need to get over Katrina, maybe you need to have a little talk with your fellow Texans about the g*dd*mn Alamo...
