Sweater Weather? Well Almost!

You all know how I hate the cold weather of Winter as my slow pulse rate (60 bpm) and arthritis make me hurt once we get below 60 degrees.   However, what I do love is the great Fall feeling of lower humidity and comfy cool temps.  I actually did wear a sweater making groceries at Dorignac's today.   You can see the front as a thin band of clouds down over the Gulf.

Yesterday we were in the mid to upper 80s while today we have been around 70.  But it's the lower dew points (70+ yesterday) that give us the good feel.  Unfortunately, that feel will only last through Saturday as the muggies return during the day on Sunday.  All in all, it will be a terrific weekend to be outside.

Meteorologist Zack Fradella showed NOAA's Winter outlook graphics that basically call for us to be drier than normal and warmer than normal.  What does that mean?  Not much as Zack pointed out the last time it snowed on the South Shore was December 2008 and that was a La Nina year. Same result with the last real freeze in 2018, which was a La Nina year.   So you snow lovers and cold air freaks, don't get too discouraged as I suspect we'll have several Arctic Expresses like every Winter here.  It's just the severe cold won't hang around very long.

NHC is still highlighting 2 areas for possible development.  According to computer models, both will stay east of the U.S. and not get into the Gulf. We could see 2 more named storms to add to this year's total.  Gotta break that record 28 storms set in 2005.    After today's cold front, we won't see another until NEXT Friday as we'll warm back up.

Finally the rains are soaking the east coast & much of Washington State.  However, California and most of the West remain sunny & dry.  The wild fires are not as numerous, but they're still some big ones burning.

There's still lots of smoke over California and a big fire can be seen west of Ft. Collins, Colorado.   We need to get the rainy season going out there.  Enjoy your weekend and stay tuned!
