Zeta making Landfall With Next Hour.

Hurricane Zeta is nearing our coast as it is accelerating to the NNE at 22 mph.   I don't even have to wait until the 4 PM advisory to see that the center line track will stay west of Pt. Fourchon & Grand Isle right up Terrebonne Bay making a direct hit on NOLA.  Max winds are now up to 110 mph so expect the next 4-5 hours of nasty, dangerous weather.

While I have a generator and don't need to worry about power, my posting is dependent on having Cox Cable stay up.  So if you don't see any further posts, that's because my cable went out.  Our surface winds have not shifted to the NE indicating a track over us.

About the only good news I have is we won't need AC for the next several days.  Look how chilly it is to our west.  You'll need sweaters & jackets in the morning.  The 4 PM advisory is in and Zeta will make landfall within the hour as a strong Cat. 2 (110 mph).  Forward speed has increased to 24 mph.   NHC in their discussion mentioned they are surprised that it kept getting stronger as it neared the coast, perhaps aided by the increasing upper shear that helped ventilate the system much like the chimney in a fireplace.  Who knows?

Shelter in place for the next 3-4 hours.  Will try to post after 6 PM.  Stay tuned!

110mph or just 1 mph from being a MAJOR HURRICANE ... Tropics are clearly NOT Bob's forte

Thank you so much for posting. It means a lot. I haven't had any TV service at all for years and, although there are some other weather sources available online, I'd rather read what you have to say. Please stay safe and well.

zydny Why? Bob is literally the most unreliable source for Tropical Weather forecasting.

Hey trolls, what's your problem? Why come on here and bash Bob? What's the goal? What's your objective?

I’m in lafourche parish and we just got mauled by this thing... i wasn’t very worried because bob all but guaranteed that a major hurricane could never strike this late in the year as he continually referenced the ocean heat content. Well let me tell you, we had boats in fourchon that had sustained winds of 126 mph. There is serious damage in lower lafourche that a tropical storm or minor hurricane could not cause. Sometimes science is wrong i guess? This was an anomaly. It’s still nasty here. Good luck everyone.

Mississippi, too. Lost power 45 min ago and using precious cell juice to check your blog...again...as we listen to wind roaring outside.

First time posting comment but 'millionth' time reading your blog since you retired. You told us to get outta Dodge in Katrina, saving our lives. Totally trust your careful analysis of every storm. Please don't ever stop posting. Thank you!!
