Comfy Cool, But Continued Dry...

Our current cool spell is perfect for me since it doesn't require the heavy weather gear yet.  We may start in the 30s & 40s, but sunshine allows us to warm to near 70 with low humidity.  That, according to my golfing partner Marvin, is "almost perfect"!

Satellite views reveal the cold front has pushed down near the Yucatan with "cold air clouds" showing up in the Gulf & off the East Coast.  We remain mostly clear which allows us to once again see the many fires across the Southeast.  We really need some rain but I don't see any through the 5-7 day time frame.

The large, cold area of high pressure is centered over West Virginia with freezing temps over the Northeast with a warming flow returning on the backside.  Look at how low (dry) our dew points are!  If we didn't have the brisk winds warming the South Shore, we all would be into the 40s in the morning.
That surface high has blocked any Gulf return flow so far and that will only slowly change as we head towards the weekend.

NHC has highlighted 2 areas for possible development this week.  Neither is of any concern for us.  Stay tuned!
