Yea that's not a mistake as Drew was on fire with all his receivers healthy again. Who Dat Nation be proud! Not back to the weather.
We have a highly sheared Tropical Storm that has not gotten stronger today. In fact, all the coldest cloud tops are well north of the center that is clearly defined on the Key West radar view. Some rainfall totals north of Miami have exceeded 8-10 inches. NHC still is forecasting Eta to become a hurricane tomorrow and on Tuesday.
Eta is expected to slowly drift to the WSW for the next 2 days over warm water and little upper shear. That should allow it to become a Cat. 1 or 2 hurricane. However, there is NOTHING that would indicate Eta will ever come close to us. What we really need is another strong cold front to finally cool down the Gulf to end the tropical season.
There is lots of cold air out west where an upper trough is producing some much needed rain and snow. However, until we see a pattern shift that brings the upper trough to the east, we'll stay warm and Spring-like.
The large high over the eastern states is blocking Eta's movement to the north. Warm air is rotating around it with temps in the 60s all the way up to the Canadian border. Dew points across the south are in the 60s giving us a soupy feel to the air. That will not change this week. I do see a strong cold front beyond the 7-10 day time frame. I will probably post before noon tomorrow, but I really have no concerns about Eta. Stay Tuned and Go Saints!

Hey Bob, I am surprised, like you, about Roy's passing. I can't remember the long list of meteorologists Roy hired. I remember meeting you in Chicago around 1969 and your move from Ohio to New Orleans. I retired from TV in 2009 after 47 years here in JAX. Being retired, I am living in Jacksonville with my wife, Virginia. I will be 90 years old on September 1 (if I am still alive).
