After further review (a sports lingo!), Hurricane Zeta ended up strengthening before landfall after NHC said it would weaken.
The NHC discussion just before landfall said they were surprised by the strengthening, but an article in the paper indicated a NHC researcher had data that told him if was going to get stronger.
So the question then becomes..."why didn't the Director of Hurricane Research relay that data to the NHC forecasters?" And if he did, why did NHC indicate Zeta would weaken some? Whether Zeta came inland at 100 mph or 110 doesn't really matter. It's the mixed messaging that says it would weaken when some knew it wouldn't is what caused many folks to not expect as strong a storm as we got. Here are some photos of the eye making landfall just west of Port Fourchon and then moving near NOLA before heading into Mississippi and then north of Mobile.
I'm done talking about Zeta. I'm just happy we made the decision to purchase a full house generator. It worked flawlessly. Much better than my cable provider! Stay tuned!

OMG! Here is the ole Bob everyone loves.. (Pun) Instead of posting copies of his blog post saying things such as I am not worried, Not out problem, Won't be a Gulf problem, Will go east over florida, Fat Lady sang, our waters are too cool for anything to intensify, Its good to be in their cone of error, yadda yadda yadda he reads through countless NHC discussions cherry picking to try and find a gotcha moment when they have performed well with their Zeta assesments.. all while ignoring his complete failure on Zeta.. that's right a COMPLETE failure.. LOL Then of course good ole Bob takes a shot at the NHC director? If I was Bob I too wouldn't want to talk about Zeta and more as he states. Good stuff

I agree with Robert D. I am so tired of the rude negative trolls. I trust what you say and look forward to your posts. You said your son can cut off certain posts and Anonymous needs to go, as well as any others who are so rude.
Hello all. We have intentionally kept posting open to everyone to pretty much say ANYTHING they want. But yes, we indeed have the ability to shut the trolls down. I have had my finger on the trigger to do it for some time as the things posted have been pretty negative, mean, and not frequently based in fact. It may be time to pull that trigger.
Please do. Having such an open comment section is great. However, the trolling is extremely obnoxious and there's very little criticism being done in good faith. The obviously mean spirited disparagement of Bob shouldn't be up here.

And to those who do not like this blog, please go elsewhere. I take offense when "anonymous" says "Bob takes a shot at the NHC Director". Ken Graham is the current Director of the NHC and has been a long time friend. My comments were at the Director of Hurricane Research, who I don't know at all. My comments questioned what was in the newspaper after I saw reports that many people were surprised that Zeta was so strong. Fortunately, this is my blog and I can restrict/censor those who want to spew hate. Identify yourself and you'll get on, unless it's a personal attack. Thanks to all who have stayed with me through the DECADES.
