Is It Eta or Theta?

Looking at today's satellite loops and reading the NHC discussion, their appears to be some doubt as to whether Eta still exists.

The broad circulation center now has several smaller centers with no T-Storms around them.  In fact, the T-Storms remain back out over water.  To me it appears a new center is forming over the western Caribbean, but for continuity's sake, NHC is keeping it TD Eta and will not call it Theta.

Their future track is similar for the 1st three days and then bends it back into the Gulf early next week in responce to an upper low near Houston.

The top graphic is for Monday morning with the bottom for Wednesday PM bring a new, stronger trough out of the Rockies.   My thinking based on what we saw with Zeta is the 1st upper low will create some shear that could enhance Eta's redevelopment before the second trough arrives to turn the system into the Florida Panhandle.   That's kind of what models are hinting.

For those of you who believe Eta will come back to threaten us, remember this past cool spell (after Zeta) has cooled down the northern Gulf by 5-6 degrees.  IF it did come to us, we're talking NEXT Thursday.  That's a long time to be worried and right now I'm not.  Let's wait until it gets back into the Gulf which won't be before late Sunday.

The cool high has pushed off the east coast allowing most of the country to warm up.  That should last through the weekend into next week.  Our next real cold front might not arrive until after the 15th.  Stay tuned!
