Happy Birthday Mr. Drew...

Today is just another Friday for many of us (my parents anniversary in 1944), however for "our" quarterback Drew Brees, it's his 42 birthday.  I've shown you this picture before, but it's kind of shows that in football, 42 is really old. ( I have 2 sons older!)

Both Drew and Tom Brady are to be complimented for taking special care of their bodies so they can still play football at such a high level.    But all I ask is for one more time...one more time that Drew beats Tom...one more time that Drew takes us to the Super Bowl & one more time you give us the Lombardi so we can party (stolen from Jim Henderson!).   We'll all be watching on FOX 8 at 5:40 PM on Sunday.

Weather should not be a factor in Kansas City or New Orleans, but Green Bay & Buffalo could see some snow showers around tomorrow.  Note the temperatures are chilly, but not super cold.

We were roughly 10 degrees colder today and will be another 4-6 degrees cooler tomorrow.   But with bright sunshine all weekend, for January it'll be a great weekend that will last into next week.  In fact, look at the warming trend that could see 70+ by mid to late week.

The reason we'll be chilly this weekend is due to the large upper low over the eastern states.  However, the long range computer models flatten out that low and give us a mainly west to east flow of milder air from the Pacific.

The top graphic is this morning's upper flow, the middle valid net Friday with the bottom valid 2 weeks from today.   As you can see, there is no big dip (Polar Vortex) coming for the rest of this month.

Plus there still is no Arctic air over most of Canada.   The Weather Channel did have a graphic showing the super cold (56 below) is on the other side of the North Pole across Siberia.  The longer it stays there and the higher our daily sun angle gets, the less likely we'll see a pipe busting freeze this Winter.  But there's still plenty for that to happen.

Finally, I always like to pick out features on the satellite loop.  Our lower 60s were the result of all day sunshine and west winds bringing in dry air.  That creates conditions for wildfires to break out.  The arrow points out such a fire near Fort Polk with a smoke plume spreading to the east.  The bottom views show the big storm up north, but if you focus on the west side of the storm beyond the clouds, you'll see a large area of dust spreading out of Colorado.  We'll see some "Breesy" winds here tomorrow.  Happy Birthday Drew and go Saints!  Stay tuned!
