But don't despair Gang. A big upper low over the Rockies is bringing down the first real chill out of Canada for many western states.
Notice how Canada is mainly in the 50s & 60s with some 30s & 40s way far north. The shorter days & longer nights are beginning to show up in cooler temperatures. Unfortunately, we won't see a real front down South until typically the 2nd or 3rd week of September. There's still plenty of heat to endure.
While there is typical summer heat over all of the East & South, note the Boston dew point of 74 is only one less than ours. They feel as awful as we do. Now for the Tropics...
The Saharan dust layer is very apparent on satellite views and that should keep the MDR quiet for another 7-10 days. NHC is tracking 2 Tropical Storms that could become Hurricanes tomorrow.
I'll deal with Henri first since he might impact parts of the NE this weekend. NHC is projecting him to become a Cat. 1 over the Gulf stream on Saturday and there is the potential to get even stronger. The question is...when will it make its northward turn? The farther to the west before it turns, the greater the impacts along the East coast.
Right now, NHC is keeping the center line track well east of NYC so, unless there is a major westward shift, the Big Apple will escape any major impacts. For Cape Cod, it's a different story. If you have travel plans for Boston next week, expect some delays.
Grace was a Hurricane until it reached the Yucatan, and it will likely regain hurricane strength as it goes back over the southern Gulf. The big upper high over us has blocked Grace from coming our way. NHC even thinks Grace will survive going over Mexico and become a storm again in the Eastern Pacific.
