We don't have to worry about freezing temperatures in the morning, but that doesn't mean the threat is over. Far from it as plenty of cold air is across Alaska (50-55+ below!) and Canada (40+ below) waiting for disturbances flying across the U.S.to bring it back down into the southern states.
We'll see quick warm up between systems followed by rapid drops followed by more warm ups & then more cold blasts. The up & down pattern will surely result in more folks getting sick.
Before you say..."it must be global warming causing more weather extremes"...just remember it's January, it's Winter and this is WHAT'S SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN.
Extensive cloudiness covers most of the northern states as another fast moving "clipper" is developing over Iowa. This will bring more snow to the NE tomorrow while warming us up on the backside of high pressure moving off the east coast.
Note the 65 degrees at Houston this afternoon. We'll be 65-70 tomorrow and 70-75 early Thursday before the next cold blast arrives Thursday PM.
Morning lows were below freezing (thanks Bruce), but tomorrow will be 10-15 degrees warmer. Today's high has been at least 57 and expect Wednesday to approach 70. Finally, the last 2 pictures are this morning's sunrise. Gosh, that's near John Snell quality! Stay tuned!
